UNIQUE selections of Chinese art and porcelain are set to sell for over £70,000 when they go under the auctioneer’s hammer.

Two collections, one of modern art images and the other of Chinese/Japanese porcelain, from opposite ends of the country, are being sold by Dorset-based Charterhouse in its April specialist auctions.

First, more than 50 photos by modern artists amassed over the past 20 years by a Derbyshire collector.

They include works by artists such as John Bratby, Dora Holtzhandler and Oscar Mellor. Varying in size and composition, the images are expected to total £30,000-40,000.

Under the hammer is also a large collection of 18th century Chinese and Japanese porcelain from a defunct estate in Devon. The unique vases and bowls are expected to total £20,000-30,000 when listed at Charterhouse’s Asian Art auction on Friday April 8.

Charterhouse founder Richard Bromell said: “As a business, we travel the country advising clients on their specialist antiques and collectables.

“Sometimes it can be as small as a piece of jewelry or as big as a classic car, but whatever the items are, they will be on a specialist sale to get the best possible price.”
