The Conroe Art League (CAL) has opened the 6th Annual ’12 x 12′ Fine Art Auction at the Gallery in the Madeley Building in historic downtown Conroe.

The 12×12 Art Auction is a display of 80 original works by CAL artists on 12 inch square wood surfaces. All proceeds from the auction benefit the Conroe Art League Student Awards Show for Montgomery County High School Students. The visit to the gallery is available from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Auctions for these unique works began in January and are taking place entirely online,” said event chair Kerry Conkling. “Bidding is already competitive and CAL has achieved a number of sales.”

Bidding starts at $35 for each work, or works can be purchased immediately online for $200. A selection of 12 works was chosen by CAL judge Edie Wells, professor of art at Sam Houston State University. These works have been set aside with special prices starting at $100 with bid increases in increments of $5. “Select 12” works can be purchased immediately for $400.

Instructions and link to the “12 x 12” auction can be found on CAL’s website, www.ConroeArtLeague.com.

“A special feature allows bidders to set a proxy bid for all coins,” Conkling said. “That is, you can have the online auction site automatically increase your bid by $5 up to your maximum amount. This feature gives you the convenience of not having to continually check to determine if you have been out of bid.

All works can be viewed at the gallery in the Madeley Building during the month of February, with auctions ending at 4 p.m. on February 25. The artwork can be picked up at the gallery on February 26 or the artwork can be shipped for an additional $15.

The Conroe Art League promotes art in the community, offering educational classes and workshops, providing opportunities for shared art experiences, providing art education scholarships, and sponsoring exhibitions in the CAL gallery and throughout the community.
