For the past 15 years, North Fort Myers’ largest arts and crafts fair has been held at the Merchants Crossing Shopping Center.
This weekend, MY Promotions returns to 15201 N. Cleveland Ave. next to Applebee’s on Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the 15th Annual Arts & Crafts Show.
Some 55 artisans and artists will exhibit and sell their work. There will also be food vendors and trucks on hand if you get hungry. Almost all vendor slots are sold out.
There’s soap, jewelry, unusual artwork made of everything from metal to driftwood, and more for shoppers. The dip vendor always tends to be the busiest place in the house.
Sally Mere, who ran the show from the start and MY Promotions for 27 years, said more than 5,000 people come each year to pick up artwork, decor, crafts and other trinkets in the living room.
“It’s a great show and people love to attend and we get a very good turnout. Last year there were a lot of people. says Mother. “We have a lot of arts, crafts and other things. It’s not a premium show, but we don’t sell cheap stuff either.
Mere started the business as a way to shake up art sellers fairly, being an artist herself.
She only asks those who wish to sell at her salon to provide unique and quality work.
“We help people earn some extra money on the side. I’m not going to tear them up just because I don’t like it. I’m just asking if you want to sell, it must be a little expensive and it must be nice and high quality. I don’t want Beanie Babies,” says Mother.
MY Promotions organizes about ten shows each year, from November to the end of March, all outdoors. Shows go as far north as Ellenton and as far south as Fort Myers.
